Top 10 highest paid MLB players: Whose worth it?
10. Carlos Zambrano, Chicago Cubs- $18.875 million
Stats: 22 appearances, 3-6, 5.66 ERA, 53Ks
Zambrano has had one of his worse seasons of his career so far. His pitching performances sent him to the bullpen, and then an outburst caused him to be suspended. Currently he is about to start rehabilitation for AAA Iowa.
9(tied). Ryan Howard, Philadelphia Phillies- $19 million
Stats: .298 avg, 21HRs, 73RBIs .538 SLG%
Howard is ranked 5th in the NL in HRs, runs (59) and 1st in RBIs
9(tied). Alfonso Soriano, Chicago Cubs- $19 million
Stats: .272avg 17HRs 50RBIs .544SLG%
Ranks 9th in NL in HRs and 6th in NL in SLG%, but Soriano hasn’t been producing like he use to since he signed with the Cubs. He has also been battling battling many injuries.

Lee is having a down year, and he's not earning the money this year from the contract he signed back in 2006.
6. Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers- $20 million

Ranks top 3 in just about every batting category in the AL
5. Johan Santana, New York Mets- $20.2 million
Stats: 2.87ERA 7-5W-L 88k
Ranks 3rd in NL in IP (135.0),and ranks 9th in ERA
4. Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees – $20.63 million
Stats: .253avg 18HRs 62RBIs .466SLG%
Teixeira is very paitent at the plate this year, which reflects on his 54 walks (3rd in AL). The Yankees are capitalizing off of those walks also. Teixeira also ranks 3rd in the AL in Runs scored
3. Derek Jeter, New York Yankees – $22.6 million
Stats: .271avg 8HRs 44RBIs .384SLG%
Ranks 6th in AL in Runs, but Jeter is starting to decline in production. He is in the last year of his $189 million, 10-year deal.
2. CC Sabathia, New York Yankees – $24.3 million
Stats: 3.13ERA 12-3W-L 110k
Ranks 1st in AL in Ws, 2nd Innings pitched (138.0), 3rd in winning percentage (.800)
1. Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees – $33 million
Stats: .272avg 15HRs 73RBIs .488SLG%
